About Us
Established by the Crown Law Office Act 1980, the Crown Law Office is a statutory organisation whose principal function is to provide legal services to the Government of the Cook Islands.
As the principal legal advisers to the Government, we provide legal services, particularly in the areas of public, constitutional and administrative law, and advise on the development, design and implementation of Government policies and decisions. We also assist with the drafting of primary and secondary legislation.
The Office administers the prosecution process in the criminal justice system, in particular, Crown prosecutions. We also oversee mutual assistance requests from overseas jurisdictions in relation to criminal investigations and prosecutions.
